I have posted fund raiser ideas for our Build the Wall Cause, letting you know some specific ways you can get involved. I believe that even if we cannot raise the full $15k through one venue, if we take advantage of a variety of smaller things, we can begin chipping away at this total. Who knows what God may help us do.
Please visit the cause page on Facebook, begin recruiting members in earnest, and let them know that there are very practical ways they can get involved.
Here are the fundraiser ideas I think we can explore:
Fundraiser 1: Ebay Auction
One idea I had was to do an E-Bay Auction, in which we would sell donated items online and use all the proceeds for our Build the Wall project. Basically, our recruiters would solicit their friends for donations, and we would have a skilled E-Bay salesperson sell these items online.
If you have sold items on E-Bay and would be interested in helping with this, please reply to this discussion. We can use this forum to discuss the items and prepare for the sale.
Fundraiser 2: Mary Kay Drive
There is a Mary Kay representative in our church, Liz Ecelbarger, who has offered to donate her time and a good part of the proceeds toward our Mission:X and build the wall project. Please let me know if you are interested in helping with this fundraiser.
Fundraiser 3: Concert
I have been talking with George Romanacce from Generation Letter, who is going to be in contact with a number of popular Christian bands to put on a "Save the Orphanage Haiti Relief" concert in July. Through the contacts we have in the Orlando area radio, and a number of influential men in our church, we should be able to expand this cause significantly beyond our normal networks. If we do pull off a concert like this, there will be plenty of need for support and volunteers, so please let me know how you would like to be involved.

Build the Wall Cause Initiated
I created the "Build the Wall" cause today, powered by Facebook. Begin spreading the word and inviting your friends to join. This cause will host a number of events, at this point I'm thinking a concert with several popular Orlando-based bands, and an E-Bay auction of donated items. Below is a cause description, some text you can use to rally support to raise the funds.
Cause Description: Last hurricane season an orphanage housing 75 Haitian children was threatened by rising waters which eroded and uncovered the foundation. Because of the damage last year, if a similar storm were to happen this year, the damage to the building, and these kids shelter, could be catastrophic.
From July 31 until August 8 thirty-five people are taking a trip to Haiti to help build a wall to keep this building, and these kids home, safe from the storm. We will be accomplishing a number of things besides building a wall, setting up medical clinics in remote villages to bring much needed supplies to impoverished areas.
But our project involves construction, because construction costs money. The servants making this trip are already raising and spending $1,000 of their own money just to get to Haiti. We need additional money to cover the cost of supplies once we get there.
That's where you come in. If you've ever been in the path of one of these storms, you know what it's like. The thought of these Haitians, living in one of the world's poorest nations, lying directly in the well-worn path of tropical storm nightmares, compels us to go and do something about it.
These 75 kids would sure appreciate any help you can provide.
